Camstudio an open source screen video capturing software. If you want to do video online training, video tutorials, this is the stuff. You can also create video-based information products you can sell and make a whole lot of money.
Camstudio also comes with its own codecs. Which makes it much more lighter and much more clear pictures. A good alternative to the pricey USD 299.00 Camtasia Studio if you are thinking to use only the video capturing part.
Recording outputs are AVI and SWF. Meanings that you can put it onto the web. Anyway some (a few) people at the current time have problems viewing SWF files through Firefox. Hope they will fixed it.
Best of all, again, it is FREE. Click it here.

3. Launchy

Windows | Linux
“Keystroke launcher” is a fancy way of saying “command line,” but if you like to type rather than click for control—a practice that goes well beyond app launching—Launchy is your best choice.
4. Quicksilver

Mac OS
Quicksilver does more from the keyboard than just launch programs. It can act on any item you can find or drag on your Mac. Quicksilver plug-ins add even more functions.
5. Audacity [HIGHLY RECOMMENDED]
